They say “A smile is the prettiest thing you can wear.” and I absolutely agree which is why when Dr. Alex Rubinov of Rosenthal Apa Group invited me into his office for a complimentary teeth whitening session I was beyond excited. I’ve tried at home teeth whitening kits (as I’m sure most of you have) but this was my first in-office teeth whitening experience.
You might be wondering what actually happens during an in-office teeth whitening session and what’s the difference between in-office teeth whitening by a dentist and an at home teeth whitening kit? Here’s the deal: at-home teeth whitening treatments use a weak peroxide to attack the stains on your teeth. Because the peroxide concentrations are low, the stain is removed gradually. In-office teeth whitening can be thought of as the heavy duty, industrial version of teeth whitening options. It provides visible results almost immediately. Dentists use stronger bleaching concentrations than at-home whitening kits and are trained to use them without harming your teeth. They apply protective coatings to your gums to prevent gum tissue from being bleached and they have the means to activate the bleaching agents so that your teeth become whiter faster.
Alright, now for the results! After my one-hour in-office session, my teeth were 3 shades whiter! Take a look at the picture below! This was an easy and painless process and the results are incredible. I didn’t know what to expect, but when I saw my before and after photo, I was impressed! Dr. Alex Rubinov and his team are amazing! Plus the vibe at Rosenthal Apa Group dental office is so fun! When I arrived for my appointment they were playing music and singing along to help a patient feel relaxed before getting her veneers.
After my teeth whitening session I sat down with Dr. Alex Rubinov and I asked him for some at-home tips. Here’s what he had to say:
Dr. Alex Rubinov believes that how you start your day, sets the tone for the rest of the day. He suggests that when you wake up in the morning, the first thing you do is brush your teeth to get rid of bacteria and use a tongue scraper to brush your tongue. This helps get ride of bacteria that has accumulated in your mouth over night and it helps with bad breath. Then have a glass a water. This gets your whole system ready and it mentally prepares you to drink water throughout the day.
It’s all about the water:
Dr. Alex Rubinov suggests using water to keep your teeth clean throughout the day. Every time you eat or drink something that can stain your teeth like curry, red wine, coffee, green juices etc. it is very important that we keep a glass of water by our side. Taking sips of water and swishing it will help remove any superficial stains. Long term, this will help to prevent stains and discoloration.
If you don’t want to come into the office, Dr. Alex Rubinov recommends using Apa White Duo to bring out your brightest smile from the comfort of your home.
